Campaign: work in an organized and active way towards a particular goal, typically a political or social one.

I think this story is about someone with a scooter that is very intricate and they go to a fete then they got recruited for a campaign that got denied (or something like that) I can not justify why I think this because I am just making up a story from the words I have been given.

The title of the piece is ‘Ten Years Old’
Write down two memories you have from when you were ten
My first memory: When I turned ten I wanted a big party because I was going into double digits and that was really big for me, I didn’t get big party to be honest I don’t even remember if I even had a party.
My second memory: I remember that one time my friends and I did a competition I think it was a colouring in competition but I’m not sure but I won it so I got some things from smiggle and I was really happy because I never got things from there and I really liked the things they had.

What ideas do you think this piece might include?
I think I might include what the world looked like from a ten year old's perspective and how they are innocent and don’t really know what's going on

What do you think this piece is about?
I think this piece will be about a ten year old who goes to a fete and wins a scooter and has a great day because that would be really nice and it would make sense with the clues I have been given

What things do you think would be of concern for a sixteen year old?
Maybe how they have grown up and have more knowledge of the world and how it’s not such a good place as you thought it was when you were young and how you wish you could go back to the days full of innocence and you didn’t have a care in the world compared to now when you are old enough to understand what is going on but too young to do anything about it.

Thinking about the title and your predictions above what do you think might be the main purpose of the speech?
Maybe to show that you can hold onto the happiness you felt when you were ten and still have that when you are sixteen you don’t have to let life get you down it is okay to be happy and have fun.
What does the speaker want is to think about/do/join/change, and so on?
The speaker wants us to donate to Child Soldiers International to stop child soldiers being a thing

Summarise the speech in less than three sentences
The narrator says what they did when they were 10 then they compare it to what a girl called Juliet did when she was 10. The narrators memories are happy were as Juliet's memories are more dark and depressing. Then near the end of the speech it is revealed that Juliet is a child soldier and that her life is not strange and that we should donate to Child Soldiers International to help children like Juliet.

The writer/ speaker wanted to teach us about child soldiers because it is a real issue and it shouldn’t be happening and they need our help.
